Teaching Quality

All of our tutors have worked in the travel and tourism industries in NZ or overseas.  Each tutor brings a wealth of experience to the college which is teamed with their Travel/Tourism and Adult Teaching qualifications.  Tutor training days are held each term and tutor meetings are held fortnightly.

Campus/ Location

Auckland is an excellent place to study. It has the right balance between high quality education and attractive lifestyle.  Auckland is consistently ranked among the ‘Top-10 most liveable cities’ in the world.  It has a scenic location with the ocean on two sides and small hill ranges, the Hunua and the Waitakere, on two other sides.  Auckland has pleasant weather throughout the year though the winter months can be a bit on the colder side with temperatures dropping down to seven degrees celsius.

The ITC Campus is based in the heart of the City Centre, convenient for public transport, city centre libraries, cafes & restaurants and shopping. Tourism is a vibrant part of the New Zealand economy, with more than 1.5 million international visitor arrivals into Auckland each year, making Auckland a lively and cosmopolitan place to live. Overseas visitors are warmly welcomed to a country that is clean, green, safe and regarded as one of the most beautiful countries in the world!

Student Services

The International Travel College has a dedicated Student Services team who are able to help international students through the application process, settling in to the college and also support throughout their course.  ITC has an intimate atmosphere due to its size and students are treated as individuals while smaller class sizes enable lots of individual tutor time and support.

Average Day

ITC classes are held Monday to Friday for 4 hours a day, exact hours will depend on the intake and course chosen.  This allows plenty of time for study outside of class and to work part time if you chose.  Most of our students are working part time and the college can help you find work through our CV workshop and Careers page on our website.  Local tourism providers let us know when they have vacancies, which we put on our website for students to apply for.

We hold Student Events approximately every 4-6 weeks which are a lot of fun and we have International Student Lunches so you can meet international students from other classes.   Each course has team building days, cultural visits and work experience opportunities.

Accommodation

International students enjoy Auckland’s high quality living conditions. There are a range of different options available; you can be part of a local family with ‘homestay’ accommodation where you’ll learn how to live like the kiwis do in your home away from home. Or you may prefer the independence of a student hostel or living with New Zealand students in apartment accommodation. Another option is to rent a house or flat with friends.

Your living costs will depend on your lifestyle and your chosen accommodation. It is really important to research temporary accommodation options before you leave home.   Some students choose to book a couple weeks accommodation with a backpackers or youth hostel as a temporary base while they are looking for somewhere more permanent.   ITC can recommend some accommodation places for you to contact where past students have stayed as well.

Links with industry

The International Travel College of New Zealand stays up to date with the latest industry news and training trends through various Aviation & Travel training organisations and we also have an Advisory Board made up of key management figures in travel & tourism.
